Girls Bedroom : One Room Challenge – Week 1

After years of watching designers makeover rooms in 6 weeks I have finally joined the ONE ROOM CHALLENGE party! Ariella is getting a bedroom makeover! It’s hard to believe I have a 9 year old daughter but her old furniture was getting too small and an update was in order!

If you’re new here let me give you an update on what you’re about to watch go down (you should be very entertained)! I’m a single momma who recently sold her previous company (Arrow & Lace), started school for Interior Design online and have been working full time since February. But because that clearly isn’t enough I singed up for the ORC. You’ll get a good behind the scenes view from my Instagram Stories at @lauramayinteriors. Grab the popcorn and PLEASE laugh with me as I change lights, install wallpaper, paint and attempt ALL the things!

So before I show you goods (yes we are still talking about the bedroom 😉 ), let me show you the BEFORE. It’s a white box at the moment that needs some love and colour!

Don’t get me wrong, it was cute at one point before I took the old furniture and decorations out. But the poor girl could only get 3 sweaters in one drawer as the furniture was so small. Perfect for a toddler or little girl but she needed some more storage. So let’s get to the best part! Here is the plan!

(All items can be sourced at the bottom of this post)

It all started with the Ana Rifle Paper & Co area rug! Can you blame me though?! The shades of blue, pink and grey was the perfect inspiration for the entire room. A little bohemian flare with the hanging rattan chair and woven mirror adds a playful twist to this typically traditional design. You’ll notice that the majority of the furniture is neutral. White or grey so that in the future if we change things up I don’t need to replace it all. There is so many amazing companies who are working with me on this room and I can NOT wait to share all those details.

I’ll be posting throughout the next 6 weeks. Get ready….because you are going to be entertained! Let’s just hope I can complete this room in the time frame on my own.Wish me luck! Be sure to check out all the other featured designers and guest participants who will be also sharing their rooms!
