Navy & Blush Home Office Reveal

Having a home office on the main floor with a window is a dream come true. In our previous home my office was in the basement bunker. It was large and bright but also cold and dark at the same time. No natural light and I wasn’t able to work with the children home because it was downstairs. When we planned the layout of this home I really wanted a space I could work in with the doors wide open and still feel apart of everything that was going on. The room is really small which made it hard to plan where the furniture would go. But after rearranging the desk multiple times I realized that having it more central in the room allowed me to look into the main living area instead of having my back to it.
Lucky for me my husband isn’t picky and I added a little pink. Hints of blush but also toning it down with the more masculine color Navy. For a while we just had the Hale Navy by Bejamin Moore accent wall with white walls but it still felt like it was missing something. Adding the Urban Walls removable wallpaper created a much more cozy, attractive and finished space. If you have a space or wall that needs some attention I would highly recommend Urban Walls for decals and wallpaper. It doesn’t damage the walls and is very simple to install. I installed this removable wallpaper on my own one saturday morning.
The cabinet behind my desk is from Ikea. It is three Billy Bookcases with the Oxberg doors. Not one inch was spared on either side of these bookcases. We have a furnace duck that was framed into the room as it had no where else to go when building. It created some challenges when designing this space. The bookcases have a more built-in feeling being placed here and it stores all those unsightly bills and nick nacks.
Let’s talk about this gorgeous Gold orbit pendant light. I saw a similar one on Mcgee and Co but it was a splurge! After finding this one at World Market for a steal I couldn’t resist (It’s currently Sold out but you can find a similar one HERE). It adds such a statement to the room and if you know me you know I’m big into lighting. Adding pattern again with the Roman Shade in a Navy Buffalo Check fabric from Caitlin Wilson. I had my friend Melissa make me this Roman Shade. To save money we created this “faux” roman shade. There is only a home next door and because our home is a split level no one can see in this window. Creating a faux roman shade meant that we needed less fabric and it was also more cost effective to make. I love how it adds texture in this small space without being overpowering.
Overall I am so happy with this space! Almost all of the furniture I have had for over a year already and I am so happy to report it’s amazing quality and holding up perfectly. The navy stripe stool is very sturdy and even with my 200lb hubby using it and learning back on only the two back legs constantly it still looks new. The beautiful blush and white pillow from Jolie Marche which has quickly been my go to for pillows. You can find all the sources in the photo below. Just click on the item in the image to shop.
