Ariella turns 7 – Unicorn Party

When Ariella requested a unicorn themed party I was a bit surprised! As many know our sweet little girl is all about sports and has some major spunk. We love this about her and recently more of the “girlie” side has been coming out. I quickly researched Pinterest for ideas but saw a lot of pastel unicorn parties. Being seven years old and not the girliest of girls I set out to find some more bright, neon colours to incorporate into her party. Lucky for me as it wasn’t too hard to find! A few months ago I was shopping in one of my favourite stores in Vancouver The Cross Design and came across the Meri Meri brand of party supplies. Behold was this Neon Unicorn set that we decorated the entire party around. I purchased the “I believe in unicorns” banner, napkins, unicorn balloons and pin wheel set from the collection. The next step was a quick trip to Target for the adorable gold cups, straws and plates.

A few quick tips I can give you as I have learned to make parties easier for myself (which is easier on my husband lol) is to purchase a filled disposable helium tank from Micheals, Target or Walmart. This saves money and you can quickly fill balloons right before the party without having to transport them. These glass jars on the end are from Ikea and always look cute with pretty straws! The bulk section in your local grocery store is your friend! Stock up on cute chocolate covered pretzels and matching candy.

One part of birthday parties that isn’t my favourite is planning games and things for the kids to do. Ariella’s party was 2 hours and I found that the perfect amount of time for the girls to play, craft, open gifts and eat cake! This year I bought beads and glitter string for the girls to make necklaces and bracelets. I would defiantly recommend this craft! The girls sat stringing beads for over half an hour!
Let’s talk about this cake! The Cake Mama from Langley, BC really hit it out of the park. The gorgeous handmade cake, meringues and macaroons made the table come to life! Not only did it all look perfect but tasted amazing! Ariella doesn’t love the taste of cake (who’s child is she?) so she requested a Rice Krispie cake. Izabela was up for the task and nailed it! Check out the inside of the unicorn cake!
About a month ago I received an email from Chelsea who owns Beautiful Day Design Co wanting to draw a portrait of Ariella. I was beyond excited and cried when I received the photo in the mail. It means so much to me as the image was taken from a meaningful photo which shows Ariella’s personality so well. The portrait will be going in her bedroom and I know it’s something I will treasure more and more as the years go on.
This adorable Unicorn Quote Print is from Kardz Kouture.
