Ariella turns SIX – Lego Party

Have I actually been a Mom for 6 years already? Seems just like yesterday I was in labor and she was finally in my arms after a hard 9months of pregnancy (and I mean 9months of 24/7 morning sickness….who came up with that word anyways?? ALL DAY SICKNESS is what it should be called). I was 23 years old when I became a Mom and although it is the hardest job I have ever had it is the most rewarding one as well! We realized at a young age that Ariella was going to be a strong willed child and even with the help of many books she has thrown us for some loops. But through those times I can’t believe how much stronger we have all become as a family. One of my favourite parts about my children getting older is the sweet words they say. For example “This is the best day ever!”. She also whispers in our ears “I love you, your the best mom”.

Many people think Ariella must be a princess and love dressing up and enjoy all things girly because of her Mom (me). It couldn’t be more further from the truth. Our sweet little girl loves all sports….and I mean ALL SPORTS!! You’ll find her outside with all the neighbour boys playing hockey, baseball, soccer and basketball. If she’s not playing sports she’s digging up worms and putting together Lego. To tell you the truth I LOVE IT! For some sad reason she has it in her head that she loves all boy games and I keep telling her that girls play sports too!! This probably comes from her Kindergarten class where there isn’t another sport loving girl in her particular class that she’s connected with yet.

So when I asked Ariella what type of party she wanted this year she explained that she would like a “pretty Lego party”. That is where this feminine, NOT primary coloured Lego party came from.
IMG_3058You may think this took a lot of work but honestly over the past few years these parties have gotten a lot easier to put on! Two important things you need to know so you can too!

1) Delegate – Hire out the parts you don’t enjoy or don’t have time for
2) Have the basic party supplies/containers and your party will look amazing every time (see the list I made below of what you need)
IMG_3133Once I had a date picked for her party I contacted my favourite baker and florist. Crystal from Reddy Made Cakes in Abbotsford, BC always gets my vision and never disappoints! The beautiful flowers are made by Kari from Confetti Floral Designs. Kari just opened up a floral shop in Abbotsford and you NEED to stop by and get yourself an arrangement! All these adorable balloons are from North Star Balloons.
IMG_3091A few days before the party I hit up the bulk section in my local grocery store to buy coordinating snacks and sweets. This makes the table look put together and saves a lot of time! Add some fruit and veggies platters and you are all set to go.
IMG_3104When it comes to the beverages I also like the easier route with infused water (pictured is strawberries and mint) and juice boxes for children. This dispenser get’s a lot of use at our home and makes it easy for everyone to refill their cups.
IMG_3138I had printed out Lego people colouring pages which the kids enjoyed and planned a few games for the kids. Pinterest is your best friend when coming up with quick easy games for the children.
